Big boost to mega textile clusters

Mr. B.K. Mishra, Chairman and Managing Director, Cotton Corporation of India Ltd., has stated: “The Modi Government’s maiden Budget was a balanced one, and they did a commendable job with the time constraints they had. It is a right mix of economic stimulus and addressing the needs of the common man.”

CII has also welcomed the Government’s Rs. 200-crore budgetary support for setting up six textile mega clusters, at Bareilly, Lucknow, Surat, Kutch, Bhagalpur, Mysore and Tamil Nadu. This is a positive for the sector.

With an allocation of Rs. 30 crores and Rs. 50 crores respectively for setting up the Hastkala Academy for revival of the handloom/handicraft and the Pashmina Promotion Programme, the Government seems keen on promoting the country’s local talent, he adds.
