INVIYA commences commercial production of expanded capacity

INVIYA, the new freedom fiber which is the only brand of spandex being produced in India and the sub-continent, has commenced its second phase of expansion of capacity. This milestone comes within a period of 13 months after the ground-breaking ceremony held in October 2016.

Being in this business for little over five years, Indorama has quickly learnt this business and has contributed to the growth of spandex consumption in the country during the past five years. It will continue to do so as it aims for leadership position in this product group.

This expansion and debottlenecking of previous capacity would take the annual capacity of INVIYA to approx 10,000 MT at Baddi in Himachal Pradesh. Indorama will continue to invest further in phases to achieve an annual capacity of 30,000 MT by 2022 at Baddi.

INVIYA continues to gain ground in the domestic market amidst severe competition from well known international producers of this product due to it’s just on time service,  shortest lead time, developmental activities in close cooperation with supply chain partners.

INVIYA’s focus on apparel & clothing solution would continue as it has geared up to work directly with retailers in the clothing and fashion space. Most of the well-known companies in the textile manufacturing chain work with INVIYA and they are serviced by the sales and application development team.

Currently, INVIYA has customer interface teams at Tirupur, Surat, Ahmedabad, Delhi NCR and Chandigarh. It is going to add Kolkatta to this list.

INVIYA is a well-accepted brand in international markets, though it primarily caters to the rising demand of spandex in India, which has been the prime objective of the ‘Make in India’ campaign.

INVIYA has unique facility of R&D plant at Baddi, which is a small polymerisation with daily capacity of 1200 kg. This facility provides great flexibility to make polymer improvisations to achieve the desired properties in the final product and also to cater new customer needs.

Spandex is a functional textile raw material, which is used in small proportion to impart properties of stretch and recovery in garments. These properties are sought after in denims, active wear, fashion wear, intimate wear, shape wear, swim wear, socks, stockings and also in medical applications like diapers and safety gloves.

Spandex demand in India is propelled by the young population of the country, which aims for active lifestyle and indulgence in sporting activities, besides growing acceptance of casual clothing in work wear, which is well supported by organised retail growth.
