Trumac, a top spinning player

Though the spinning sector has several leading textile machinery brands, the Trumac brand enjoys a special reputation among Indian textile industry circles. The Managing Editor of The Textile Magazine had recently an opportunity to visit the Ahmedabad plant of Trumac Engg. The plant has most modern facilities, including laser cutting and fully automated electronic controller CNC machines, involving a huge outlay on R&D.

According to Mr. Jayesh P. Bhatt, Sr. Vice President (Operations), Trumac Engg. Co. Pvt. Ltd., though the Trumac products used to attract major business across India, the company has also exported its products through parent company Trützschler to various neighboring countries and becomes competent company to reckon.

In the field of spinning preparatory for long, Trumac has emerged a leading player. Basically, the company started manufacturing blow rooms in 1981, the DK 740 carding machines in 1992 and HSR 1000 draw frame since 1995. It has so far sold more than 6,000 carding machines, 2,000 blow rooms and over 220 draw frames since inception through its marketing arm, A.T.E. Enterprises Pvt Ltd

As part of the blow room equipment, Trumac manufacturer’s complete automated line for cotton and man made processing with modern equipments like automatic bale opener BLENDOMAT BO-A and CLEANOMT cleaners. They recently introduced contamination remover popularly known as foreign part separator SECUROPROP SP-FPU.  Earlier this technology was available from Germany and customer used to import the separator from Trützschler. However, the same technology is now available directly from Trumac, Ahmadabad. The critical components required for the machine are still imported in order to maintain the high quality level.  Trumac’s compact filter for handling waste collection and dust exhaust, are known for superior design and lower power consumption. Interestingly, the Trumac plant is a well-integrated one with flexible facilities.

During 2009-10, Trumac emerged the second largest market player as far as sales of blow room / carding machines are concerned. In view of the high cost of production in Europe, Trützschler has decided to produce the TC 5 cards in India, and the project has proved a runaway success. Currently, Trumac has a robust order booking for TC 5 cards, and the sales are expected to double this year compared to last year. Considering the success story of TC 5 cards, Trumac also started manufacturing TD series Truetzschler high performance draw frames which is considered to be the most modern draw frames available in the Indian Market. It may be noted that Trützschler is also having subsidiaries in the US, Brazil and China.

According to Mr. Bhatt, considering the high standard quality of Trumac products, including TC 5 cards, many mills have placed repeat orders. Among the various leading mills which use Trumac+Trützschler spinning machines are Vardhman, Nahar, Saluja, Premier, KPR, Shanmugavel, Sambandam, NSL Group, Welspun, Century Denim group etc.

Recently, the company has also supplied TC 5 carding machines to the renowned Ramco Group, expecting repeat orders from it. The company is also a major supplier of spinning machines worth about Rs. 50 crores for modernisation and the green field projects of NTC’s 22 mills. The technology advantage: price performance ratio was what won the coveted NTC order for the company.

From small to big

Mr. Bhatt also pointed out that though the company was started with its focus on Indian customers with a small investment of Rs. 3 crores 30 years ago, it has so far invested more than Rs. 50 crores for modernisation. With 80 qualified engineers of the total workforce of 450, Trumac today delivers world-class products at affordable prices. Among the various growth drivers are the loyalty and co-operation of the company staff, many of whom have an experience of over 25 years in the company. Even Mr. Bhatt has an experience of 22 years, having joined the company with his C.A. qualification. It was his sheer experience and guidance that contributed a lot to the company’s growth.
