Chiorino, an Italian-based conveyor and transmission manufacturer, in the field since 1906, has recently started its Indian operations, at Goa. Chiorino is the third largest light-to-medium weight conveyor and transmission belt manufacturer in the world and proudly boasts of its state-of-the-art manufacturing technology which is all based in Biella, northern Italy.

Franstek Belts Pvt. Ltd. in India is an affiliated company of the Chiorino Group established in 2013. Mr. Avinash Pai, a textile technocrat with more than 20 years of on-field experience, will aid the Italian belting brand in carving a niche for itself in the Indian sub-continent.

Chiorino operates through 19 fabrication units spread across the globe, but all the manufacturing happens only in Italy. Currently the company has more than 1,000 employees, including service engineers strategically located at various commercial hubs.

The company’s Indian fabrication unit is located at Verna, the industrial hub of south Goa. The 1,500 sq.m. workspace is equipped with world-class laser cutting machines, high frequency weldings and huge stock of inventories ready to be supplied at a moment’s notice.

“We dont sell products, we sell solutions. Moving ahead value-add is gonna be the key”, says Mr. Avinash Pai, Executive Director, Franstek Belts.

Chiorino manufactures a wide range of high duty transmission belts with excellent resistance to temperature, oils, dust and abrasion. They are widely used as live roller drives, tangential drives, power transmission drives crossed or multiple, for low, medium and high power, as machine feeding belts and process belts in the paper and folding industry. In particular the main applications are in the textile industry, graphic industry, carton box folding industry, food and confectionary, mechanical constructions, wood industry, flour mills and agriculture.

Chiorino-pic-3The Chiorino product range covers polyamide core and polyurethane, elastomer or leather covered belts, polyester traction and thermoplastic polyurethane covering belts for varied applications. Within the textile vertical, Chiorino covers two major segments – transmission belts for tangential drives and tapes for spindle drives.

Polyamide transmission belts from Chiorino are known for their silent running, anti-static, absolute yarn uniformity, low energy absorbtion, resistance to high temperature and long life. These belts are developed to work on sophisticated OE spinning frames, twisters and texturizing machines.

The Chiorino spindle tapes guarantee low energy absorption, silent running, dimensional stability running on small diameter spindles at high speed, uniformity of yarn count, no dust accumulation on edges and long life. They also have good antistatic properties, low stretch and flexibility.

The company also offers a wide range of belts for other industries that include conveyor and process belts, timing belts and seamless rubber belts.

Chiorino is also one of the leading manufacturer of round belts and V-belts made from polyurethane. These belts are manufactured by extruding both polyurethane round and V Section belts used in various markets for transmission of light duty drives, at medium low speeds and conveying light loads.

The main characteristics of these belts are extremely good tensile strengths, elasticity and flexibility values; very high resistance to abrasion, tearing, grease and pure mineral oils, petrols and hydrolysis. The recommended working temperatures is between -20 and +60 C degrees. Most of these belts come in Green or Blue colour.

“Unparalleled service behind our product is the key. 24 hrs a day, seven days a week on-site service will be available to all customers,” said Mr. Franco Oetterli, Executive Director of Chiorino Asia, while interacting with The Textile Magazine recently.

Chiorino can provide Indian customers with full site surveys and belt evaluation reports and also recommend on belt selection that in turn helps the customer to improve his production quantity and belt life. The belt manufacturer guarantees continuous supply at any cost. Full belt preparing capability will be set up at all the dealer networks.

The Naren Group of companies, Coimbatore, was recently appointed channel partner for South India. Naren will handle both textile and non-textile customers for Chiorino belts in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and Karnataka. “We are very confident about this product and will provide the state of the art service centre facilities for any beltings solutions and also gives excellent after sales after sales service to all my clients and customers,” said Mr. Sundarraj, Managing Director of Naren.

The growing food and pharma industry is expected to consume more than 50 per cent of domestically sales. High-pressure polyurethane belts now represent Chiorino’s premium quality segment, meeting today’s most stringent requirements in terms of safety and hygiene required by OEMs and end users within the food industry. Its conveyor belt expertise also extends to applications such as airport baggage-handling systems and all forms of logistics, waste recycling, timber mills, MDF plants and timber processors, and pharmaceuticals processing, among many others.
