SIMA elects new office bearers for 2017-2018

The 58th Annual General Meeting of The Southern India Mills’ Association (SIMA) was held on 9th September, 2017 in Coimbatore.  After the event the new members of the committee at its 1st meeting unanimously elected Mr P Nataraj, Managing Director, K P R Mill Limited, Coimbatore, as the Chairman of SIMA for the year 2017-18.

Mr Nataraj, a Science Graduate and Fellow Member of Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, is a member of the Committee of Confederation of Indian Textile Industry (CITI) and also Vice-President of Indian Cotton Federation. He is a Managing Trustee in K.P.R. Institute of Engineering and Technology that extends quality education to the society. He is involved in the functioning of ‘KPR IAS Academy’ that provides ‘Free’ coaching to the aspirants of competitive examinations. As an active Melvin Jones Fellowship Member of Lions Club, he has conducted free Eye Camps, Blood Donation Camps and various other social activities. He is a Trustee in Aaliyar Arivu Thirukovil, Pollachi that spreads awareness in Meditation, Yoga, Women upliftment and other social welfare activities. He is the Chairman of the ‘Vetri Trust’ promoted with the noble objectives and innovative services to humanity.

Mr.K.Vinayakam, Deputy Chairman of SIMA

Mr.K.Vinayakam, Managing Director of SCM Textile Spinners, Avinashi and Managing Director of The Chennai Silks has been unanimously elected as the Deputy Chairman of SIMA for the year 2017-18.  Under his dynamic and influential leadership emerged “The Chennai Silks” an icon for textiles in Tamilnadu and the first BIS certified jewellery in Tamil Nadu “Sree Kumaran Thangamaligai”.  He is Managing Director of Space Textiles P Limited, Coimbatore which includes The Chennai Silks, Sree Kumaran Thangamaligan and SCM Textile Spinners.  He is also Managing Trustee of AKV Foundations under which functions a CBSE School, “Sri Nachammal Vidyavani, Avinashi.   Mr.Vinayakam is also a great philanthropist doing service to the society under the banner of “A. Kulaindavel Nachammal Charities”, a Charitable Trust in his parents’ name.  He is also actively participating and contributing as a trustee to Vedanthri Maharishi’s Ulaga Samuthaya Seva Sangam, Aliyar, Pollachi and Universal Peace Foundation at Thirumurthy Hills, Udumalai.  He is a proud recipient of many awards and accolades.  A product of The Chennai Silks has earned World Guinness Record in the textile field for “The Richest Saree” in the world.

Mr.Ashwin Chandran, Vice-Chairman of SIMA

Mr.Ashwin Chandran, Chairman & Managing Director, Precot Meridien Limited, Coimbatore has been unanimously elected as the Vice-Chairman of SIMA for the year 2017-18.  The Coimbatore based Precot Meridien Group has textile units in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.  Mr. Ashwin Chandran, a B.Sc., (Hons) Graduate in Textile Technology, UMIST, UK and post-graduate (MBA) from University of Illinois, USA, is a member of Cotton Textiles Export Promotion Council, Mumbai and Confederation of Indian Textile Industry, New Delhi.
