LMW technology for spinning success all along

By G. Mani, Sr. General Manager – Global Service

The Indian textile industry is one among the largest in the world, and the Indian economy is largely dependent on textile manufacturing and exports. It contributes 14 per cent to industrial production and four per cent to GDP. With over 45 million people, the textile industry is the second largest source of employment generation in the country, accounting for nearly 13 per cent of total exports.

Lakshmi Machine Works Ltd. (LMW) has been catering to the needs of the Indian textile industry since 1962 and is offering customers with world-class technology that comes at an affordable price. LMW has supplied over 40 million spindles to the global market over a period of five decades, and today more than 75 per cent of the spun yarn produced in India is with LMW machinery.

LMW’s services to the industry don’t stop with just offering technological solutions to the customer but also extend a blend of services by partnering with customers for their needs and end uses, timely supply of components, parts and kits, offering training programmes with theoretical and hands-on experience and technical support throughout the lifecycle of the product.

Institutionalized with a competent R&D centre and Dr. DJ RDC a full-fledged textile mill with all facilities for testing and making up to the end products, as well as testing & providing customers the optimized quality and productivity for their raw material and end uses, LMW provides customers a head start by introducing new generation machines with state-of-the-art technologies, thus enhancing their productivity and reducing their operating costs. Upgrading the products periodically in line with emerging technologies has always been the objective of LMW.

LMW components & parts

Key components, parts and performance enhancement kit exclusively for spinning systems are manufactured in separate business units at LMW. These independent business units with modern manufacturing facilities and high production follow stringent quality control.

With the state-of-the-art facilities and infrastructure, the components and parts are the hygiene and a perfect fit for machines.

The textile spinning industry has become so competitive that people who dynamically upgrade themselves sustain and prosper. The productivity levels and the quality deliverables are scaling new highs and mills which upgrade and modernize periodically meet with success.

Value addition is a deliverable that meets the requirements / preferences of customers and provide the same at the appropriate time. LMW is at the forefront in understanding the customer’s needs and provide value-added kits to enhance the machinery productivity, quality and performance.

Comber LK54

To enhance the productivity and quality and to improve the working performance of Comber LK54, LMW has introduced “performance enhancement kit “Z” kit, E218”.

The deliverables of the “Z” PEK are increased productivity, improved quality, enhanced performance and value for money.

All achieved through modified drives, specially-designed nipper, wider width ratchet, guide cylinder, new feed roller & end bushes and new spiral clearer roller.

New rings & spindles

Rings & spindles are the most important factors that influence the spindle speeds resulting in the productivity and quality of the yarn delivered.

Rings play a major role in optimizing spinning efficiency. The new rings are optimally designed with the flange width, increased flange height that proportionally increases the load bearing area and increased web thickness that increases the geometrical accuracy and reduced thermal distortion. The improved ring design ensures optimum yarn clearance and control in geometrical accuracy.

With this, the traveller balance has improved significantly, leading to increase in spindle speeds and reduced end break levels.

New spindles

Insert assembly is the most critical part of the spindle assembly that decides the spindle life. The all new HL Insert assembly comprises two radial bearings and one axial bearing to ensure free rotation of the spindle top part. The HLLD bolster is designed with a double elastic viscous damping construction for reduced noise & vibration. With the HLLD spindles, compared with the conventional spindles, the vibration is reduced by 50 per cent.

The spindle assembly has a higher radial load carrying capacity (25N static & 100 N dynamic). It is capable of running at a mechanical speed of up to 30,000 rpm.

Spinning machines from LMW contribute to a large extent to keeping production costs down and quality standards up. And when it comes to replacement of components & parts, the original components & parts from LMW ensure quality, performance and “accurate interaction with the other machinery parts”.

LMW as an active partner and trusted source for quality components & parts helps spin quality yarn.

All the current and latest LMW products were displayed at SIMA Texfair 2016 in Coimbatore.

Quality is improved / maintained at higher production / reduced noil levels (noil savings), with production improvement of up to 40 per cent with the same noil levels and production improvement of up to 23 per cent with 2 per cent noil reduction.
