Birla Cellulose, a part of the Aditya Birla Group and one of the world’s leading producers of man-made cellulosic fibres (MMCF), announced the launch of Livaeco™ Lyocell, its next-generation sustainable fibre, at Confluence 2026, the company’s flagship industry platform held in Coimbatore.

The launch brought together leaders from across the textile value chain—including spinners, fabric manufacturers, brands, and industry stakeholders—to explore innovation, sustainability, and future-ready solutions for the industry.
Livaeco™ Lyocell represents Birla Cellulose’s continued commitment to combining environmental responsibility with advanced fibre engineering. Manufactured through an advanced closed-loop solvent spinning process with up to 99.7% solvent recovery, the fibre is derived from 100% FSC®-certified wood pulp, ensuring responsible sourcing from sustainably managed forests.
Engineered for both sustainability and performance, Livaeco™ Lyocell offers a unique balance of strength, smoothness, and moisture management. Being the future of MMCF and the strongest man-made cellulosic fibres, it delivers superior durability, excellent dimensional stability, and a naturally smooth, skin-friendly surface, making it suitable across diverse textile applications.

Commenting on the launch, Mr. Vadiraj Kulkarni, Business Head – Birla Cellulose, said:
“Livaeco™ Lyocell represents the next step in our innovation journey. As the textile industry evolves toward greater responsibility and performance, this fibre has been engineered to deliver both. With strong sustainability credentials and superior technical performance, we believe it will create new opportunities for our partners across the textile value chain.”
Mr. Manmohan SIngh, Chief Marketing Officer – Birla Cellulose, added:
“At Birla Cellulose, our focus has always been on creating fibres that enable the industry to move forward responsibly. Livaeco™ Lyocell reflects this vision—combining nature-inspired materials with advanced technology and traceability to support brands and manufacturers in building transparent and future-ready products.”
The fibre is supported by GreenTrack™, Birla Cellulose’s blockchain-powered traceability platform that enables end-to-end visibility across the textile value chain from forest to fashion. Through digital mapping and molecular tracer technology embedded within the fibre, manufacturers and brands can verify source authenticity at every stage, ensuring transparency and preventing dilution or counterfeiting.
Livaeco™ Lyocell is designed for a wide range of textile applications including womenswear, menswear, denim, athleisure, innerwear, and home textiles such as carpets, bedding, towels, and upholstery. The fibre’s strong dye uptake, excellent colour depth, and durability make it particularly suitable for both fashion and lifestyle products.
With this launch, Birla Cellulose continues to strengthen its role as a sustainability-driven innovation partner for the global textile industry bringing together responsible forestry, advanced fibre technology, and digital traceability to enable a more transparent and future-ready value chain.
