Brückner Textile Technologies GmbH & Co. KG, the globally renowned German manufacturer of sustainable and energy-efficient textile finishing machinery, has officially inaugurated its Indian subsidiary, Brückner Textile India Pvt. Ltd., in Coimbatore. This strategic move underlines Brückner’s long-term commitment to the Indian market and positions the company to support the country’s rapidly evolving textile sector more closely and efficiently.

The new office represents not just a geographical expansion but a deeply strategic investment in one of the world’s most dynamic textile markets. Led by Mr. Thomas Wiget, Director of Brückner Textile India, and Mr. Alexander Mandel, Sales Director at Brückner Textile Technologies GmbH & Co. KG, the company aims to combine German technology and precision with the agility and dynamism of the Indian market.
Why India, Why Now?
“This is a very special moment for the entire Brückner Group,” remarked Mr. Mandel during the opening of the Coimbatore office. “Our mission is to combine German engineering with Indian speed and flexibility. The opening of our Indian office is a clear signal that we are here to stay and grow with our customers.”

The timing could not be better. With India poised to overtake China in spinning capacity and rapidly climbing the value chain in textile manufacturing, Brückner sees immense potential. “India has approx. 80 million spindles today. In five to ten years, India will be the global textile superpower,” said Mr. Wiget with conviction.
Product Portfolio for India: Standard to Cutting-Edge
Brückner offers a comprehensive range of machines tailored to the Indian market, including classical textile equipment such as stenters , including the new Power Dryer, sanforizers, and continuous dyeing ranges like Pad-Dry-Thermosol and pad-Dry-EcoSteam. In the non-woven technologies segment, Brückner provides equipment for technical textiles and geotextiles, with machines already installed at leading companies in India.
The Power Dryer, recently introduced in India, has already seen its first installations and is expected to become a key growth driver in the coming years.
Building Local, Serving Global
While all Brückner machines will continue to be manufactured at their state-of-the-art facility in Tittmoning, Bavaria, Germany, the Coimbatore office will act as a dedicated sales and service hub. This new setup ensures faster response times, localized technical consultation, installation support, machine upgrades, and after-sales service tailored to Indian customers.
“We are not just here to sell machines. We are here to build trust, to be the reliable partner our Indian customers can depend on,” emphasized Mr. Wiget. “Service is critical. You can sell a machine once, but if your service isn’t up to the mark, you won’t sell the second time.”
For decades, Brückner operated in India through agent partnerships with Voltas, now known as Universal MEP (part of the Tata Group). “While we greatly appreciate our good relationship with Voltas, Having our own team on the ground brings us closer to the customer, both technically and emotionally,” said Mr. Wiget. “It allows us to offer faster, more personalized service, and build the trust that’s essential in this market.”
Brückner Textile India Pvt. Ltd. is led by a team of experienced professionals with deep knowledge of the Indian textile landscape. Mr. A. Venkatesh Babu will oversee sales across Southern and Eastern India, while Mr. Vinod Kumar V. manages Northern and Western India. This pan-India coverage ensures regional responsiveness and stronger client relationships.
“It’s a fully operational branch that reflects our commitment. We are adding service engineers, and soon we’ll have a complete team that can handle everything from sales to commissioning and installation.”, explained Mr. Wiget.
India’s Receptiveness to Innovation
Despite being a cost-conscious market, India is increasingly receptive to new technology—especially if it’s proven and performance-backed. “Our Indian customers are among the best-educated in textile technology globally,” said Mr. Wiget. “They rigorously evaluate claims. You can’t just sell on brochures—you need to demonstrate success, efficiency, and reliability.”
Brückner’s new chain system, which eliminates the need for grease and oil, is a case in point. It’s already gaining traction because it offers tangible savings and environmental benefits.
Brückner machines, known for their German precision, are considered premium products. Yet, India, despite having local manufacturers offering machines at a quarter of the price, continues to show strong preference for Brückner.
“We have close to 250 Brückner installations in India already,” revealed Mr. Wiget. “That speaks volumes about the trust Indian manufacturers have in our technology. But we are not complacent. Our goal is to increase market share and be the top choice for imported finishing machinery.”
Supporting India’s Move Toward Man-Made Fibers (MMF)
India is pushing for greater capabilities in man-made fibers (MMF), especially polyester and elastane blends used in activewear. Brückner’s technology is well-suited for these applications.
“We are already working with leading Indian companies, who are setting up new synthetic processing units in India,” said Mr. Wiget. “Brückner stenters are ideal for synthetics—our machines come with advanced tension control and split-flow design, critical for spandex and nylon fabrics.”
Navigating a Challenging Global Landscape
Despite global economic challenges, Brückner has maintained a strong position thanks to its diversified portfolio. “We are not limited to standard apparel textiles. We are strong in technical textiles and specialty machinery,” said Mr. Mandel. “This diversification has protected us when certain markets are down.”
Markets like India, China, and Egypt have shown promising growth. “India especially stands out. It’s one of the few markets where we see consistent and growing demand. That’s why we’re here,” he added.
Brückner at ITMA Asia: Walking the Talk on Sustainability
Brückner’s participation at the upcoming ITMA Asia in Singapore is set to make waves, especially with the unveiling of its new-generation SFP 2 stenter.
“We are not just talking about sustainability—we are showing how it can be achieved,” said Mr. Mandel. “From energy savings to clean operation, we’re demonstrating practical innovations for a cleaner textile industry.”
A Vision for the Future
India is now investing heavily in processing parks, driven by both government incentives and industry recognition of the need for value addition. Brückner’s local presence, product innovation, and focus on sustainable solutions position it well to ride this growth wave.
“We’re just getting started,” said Mr. Wiget. “With our local office, dedicated team, and deep global experience, Brückner is ready to support India’s textile evolution—from cotton to synthetics, and from yarn to high-value fabrics.”
Looking ahead, Brückner plans to expand its team in India even further. With three to four dedicated sales professionals and a growing service team, the company is preparing for accelerated growth.
He concluded, “This is not just a new office. It’s a statement. A statement that Brückner is here to be a part of India’s textile growth story. We are bringing the best of German technology, and we are combining it with the spirit, speed, and scale of India.”
