Of the total 23 working units of the National Textiles Corporation (NTC), 15 have generated cash profits in 2012-13, the Minister of State for Textiles, Ms. Panabaaka Lakshmi, has informed Parliament.

Among the mills which have witnessed profits, Finlay (Achalpur, Maharashtra) registered the maximum profit of Rs. 10.40 crores, followed by Madhya Pradesh-based Burhanpur Tapti with Rs. 4.51 crores and Kerala-based Vijay Mohini with Rs. 2.61 crores, she added.

Asked if the output of various NTC mills have declined in the last three years, she said: “There is no reduction in the overall production in NTC mills during the last three years, except for minor variations due to power cut and labour shortages in certain mills”.

Further, NTC has offered the Modified Voluntary Retirement Scheme (MVRS) to all its employees of the closed mills as per the Board for Industrial and Financial Reconstruction. “Till date, 63,196 employees have availed the benefit of MVRS and an amount of Rs. 2,349.56 crores has been paid as compensation,” she added.
