Biancalani: In relentless pursuit of excellence in textile finishing machinery

The company’s expertise comes from more than 60 years of experience and the know-how obtained from 1,500 machines and lines installed worldwide

Rossano Biancalani, CEO

Considered a global leader in textile finishing machinery, Biancalani is known for its strong focus on research and development and has established a significant presence in India with its innovative finishing machines, apart from other key global markets. But naturally, CEO Rossano Biancalani is more than satisfied with the company’s recent performance worldwide. “We are happy with the results of 2021 because besides being able to reach our preliminary targets, Biancalani acquired important new customers and market segments which will play a relevant role in our future development,” he states.

Speaking about the global markets which were good for the company, Biancalani adds: “The demand for our machinery is mostly distributed among the countries that were first plagued by the pandemic and are now re-starting their production. Also, the Indian market has become a key geographical sector for our turnover.” Touching upon the topic of how the company helps its customers increase their efficiency, quality and profitability, he says: “We are positive and well-positioned in the global market, specific to the textile finishing area. By choosing Biancalani, our customers know they are getting state-of-the-art textile technology.”

Experience and Innovation

It is both the many decades of experience and the spirit of innovation that has kept Biancalani ahead of its peers. “On board is more than 60 years of experience and the know-how coming from 1,500 machines and lines installed worldwide. Biancalani offers a complete range of solutions and machines, which have been designed with efficiency, productivity and sustainability as their main characteristics. In addition, our technical service is available all over the world,” he adds. At Biancalani, technology matters most. Elaborating about new technologies introduced by the company in recent times, Biancalani says: “The most recent introduction is our AQUARIA® open-width washing range which applies the concept of AIRO®24 to the ‘wet’ domain, matching an intense and easily controlled mechanical action with very long dwelling times and efficient water management.”

“We are also working on new ideas which will turn into textile solutions for the next ITMA 2023 to be held in Milan,” he adds. When asked about the valuable lessons that the company learnt from the pandemic, he notes that it is difficult to evaluate a condition where a temporary situation determined such important changes in our everyday life and habits. “The pandemic forced all the actors on the stage to move away from their established roles and improvise new parts. In many cases this actually turned out to be a positive aspect because it worked as encouragement to approach new points of view and to open our minds towards possibilities which were not considered before,” he states.

Automation and Industry 4.0

The company has also been a frontrunner when it comes to adopting automation. Going into details regarding the initiatives, Biancalani informs, “All our machines have been compatible with the Industry 4.0 infrastructure for several years now for data exchange and management. Many of our customers are using this technology with great advantages in terms of optimisation and process control.” And now, sustainable textile manufacturing has gained more importance in the post-pandemic world. Brands and retailers have set stringent sustainability goals and standards for their suppliers. Biancalani further elaborates on how the company helps its customers contribute to this objective.

“Manufacturing machines that run processes as sustainable as possible is an important aspect that has already been included as one of our main goals for the past several years. Our customers are well-aware of the importance of lowering environmental impact in the processes of producing fabrics and appreciate our continuous research for the development of machinery that puts sustainability among the key issues. ACIMIT, the Italian association of textile machine manufacturers, has established a certification path for machines that ensure sustainability and Biancalani is already in the middle of the process of obtaining this important certification,” he informs.

Buoyant Future

Rossano Biancalani is optimistic that 2022 will mark the exit from sanitary emergency which forced everyone to adopt a different model in business relationships. “As a matter of fact, we are going to participate at important international trade shows like ITM Istanbul, ITMA Asia and Techtextil North America, among others. At the same time, 2022 will be a preparatory year in which our new ideas and technologies will take shape in view of the next milestone and springboard event, the ITMA 2023. This is where the new features and modules of AQUARIA® will also be on display,” he says.

Finally, responding to a question regarding the vision the company has set for itself by 2025, he says: “Biancalani is a point of reference in textile finishing for years now. Our machines are highly appreciated because they are based on innovative concepts. That it is worth to bring innovative concepts to life is once again confirmed by AQUARIA®, the first continuous open-width washing machine. We support our customers as best as we can, offering technological service with personnel specialised in fabric treatments, after-sales service with staff from Italy or with well-trained local personnel, as for example in India. Our goal is to keep improving our local and digital customer service worldwide.”
