Ferraro SPA strategy thrust on quality, innovation and service

Ferraro SPA is the perfect choice for the businesses that desire the best quality in the finishing of their knitted and woven fabrics. With more than six decades of experience, Ferraro has become one of the brands that never compromises on quality and offers the best-in-class technology to the clients, which has made it the developer and provider of best finishing machines as well as other machines.

Mr. Leo Petruzio, Sales Manager, Ferraro SPA

Established in 1951, Ferraro began its journey as a small machinery manufacturer in a small town in Milan, Italy. The little town was called the ‘Manchester of Italy’ at that time as it was the center for knitting production and equipment with more than 500 dyeing houses, knitting factories and garment manufacturing units.

Initially, the company manufactured customized products, according to the prevailing needs of the customers. Every customer wanted a different kind of product and had different requirement. The production at Ferraro began with packaging machines for socks and T-shirts and finishing machines for knitted products. During the 1980s when the demand for knitted garments was growing day by day, the company started producing compacting machines for final stability of the fabric and to eliminate residual leakage of the fabric. This eventually, became a very big project in Russia, where the company was commissioned to manufacture a hundred machines in one shot. The production of compacting machines that started in 1989 is still the core business for the company.

Apart from this, Ferraro has branched into other sectors like wet treatment, tubular pedals and some machines utilized in washing the fabric, that was the oil off the fabric after knitting and weaving. It also produces machines for washing the fabrics after printing.

Ferraro has today become an important player in the knitting industry, not only in the domestic but the international market. It exports its products to 52 different countries. Ferraro has been present in the Indian market for more than 30 years and has big customers in Ludhiana, Mumbai and southern States of India.

For Ferraro, the Indian market plays a very significant role, as Mr. Leo Petruzio, Sales Manager, Ferraro SPA, said: “The Indian market is very important because the textile industry here is huge. It is the fourth largest contributor to our turnover”.

The Indian market receives about 40 machines from the company, which has made the growth percentage of Ferraro very high. The company is growing by 10% every year, and even for 2018 the status of the company is very good. It has already received some very good orders although January and February are not the peak season months in India for orders and exports.

Even though Ferraro faces competition from local manufacturers in India and China, the company stands firm in the international market, because of the commitment to the quality of its machines. The company still has 40-year-old machines running in the market, proving that the quality of the machine is the best and its performance is extraordinary.

The company has made its mark in the market with its innovative technology and has launched several ground-breaking machines ever since its inception. In 2017, it launched its rotoclean system machine for removing the leftover oil from synthetic fibers like lycra and polyester. It is one of the most important patents for the company.

The company has recently developed a new machinery and is all set to launch it in the Italian market. After testing the machine in the Italian market and getting the feedback from the customers, and after making the necessary changes and upgradations, the product will be introduced in other markets. The machinery is currently being promoted in Indian and European markets and will be launched once the testing and upgradation is complete.

Association with Batliboi

The company has been associated with Batliboi since 2011. The two have maintained strong relations and have represented Ferraro in the Indian market for seven years. The partnership is proving effective as the policies of the two companies resonate with each other perfectly. Said Mr. Leo Petruzio: “We appreciate Batliboi because of their work ethics. Their dedication to the customers is commendable and they have made an identity for themselves in the market”.

Another advantage which Batliboi gives Ferraro is its office location. Batliboi has its offices located across India, making the company strategically advantageous. It is just one office, one team and one management to maintain business with, which makes it easier to deal and also supply the products all over the country.

Another ease that Batliboi offers Ferraro is with its warehouses that are located near each of its offices. These warehouses store all the critical spares and tools that are required by the customers regularly. This ensures that the service is not delayed, because if each part has to be imported when the demand comes not only will there be delay in providing the customer what they need and dissatisfy them. It would become a costly affair for the company as they would have to import regularly and pay separate duty for each import. Ferraro is trying to increase the size of the warehouses and aims to improve them further so that more parts could be stored and they can attend to the needs of the clients more efficiently.

Many of Ferraro’s customers who have been associated with it for more than ten years have experienced how this Italian maker always keeps track of the customer’s needs. Customers stick to Ferraro because they know that they are getting the best service and products.

Ferraro is able to maintain its technological standards with the help of its R&D team, which is progressing in terms of making improvements to the present technology and also exploring new technology to provide the state-of-the-art products to its customers. In 2017, the company made around five patents, all as a result of the commitment to innovation that the company makes every day, trying to figure out what further improvements can be made and what new ventures can be taken. Ferraro is going to launch new finishing machinery at ITMA Barcelona 2019, which has already been patented.

The future strategy for Ferraro is to keep on improving the quality of machinery and service. As the Indian market is growing, so is the need for quality machinery. The focus has shifted to the domestic market, and at times more profit is generated through the local market rather than exports. The lifestyle of the local public is improving, and so is the demand for quality commodities. Therefore, Ferraro aims to provide the market with best-in-class machinery which would not ware off even when it gets old.

Leaders at Ferraro believe that India will prove its economic importance to the whole world, and that is why the company wants to bring in its best technology to the country. The policies issued by the Government for the textile industry are quite good from the future perspective and will be highly beneficial. Therefore Ferraro aims to bring the top quality products and the rich core values to India.

“The association with Ferraro started more than eight years ago, and from the beginning the two companies have formed a very successful synergy because of similarities in their approach towards business. Consequently customers are always assured of complete satisfaction expected from business partners, be it in the form of suggestions for products with most suitable specifications or continuous technological inputs to help adding value to the end products of the customer. “We both believe service is a continuous process. It has always been a pleasure to work with Ferraro because of its professional work ethics, commitment and, most importantly, mutual trust and respect.”
