Indo Count adopts organic and inorganic growth strategies to strengthen leadership in Home Textiles

Indo Count Industries Limited (ICIL) has established itself as one of India’s leading home textile exporters with a sizeable capacity of 135 million metres per annum [p.a.] (likely to increase to 153 million metres p.a. after completion of the ongoing capex). ICIL’s large capacity along with increasing backward integration into spinning is expected continue to support its growth over the medium term while maintaining healthy margins. Long-term relationships with reputed clientele – ICIL’s major customers include global big-box retailers in the US, Canada and Europe such as Walmart, JC Penney, Kohl’s, Costco, Liberty, among others. Indo Count Industries was incorporated in 1988 as a cotton yarn manufacturer and commenced production at its export-oriented spinning unit in 1991 with an installed capacity of 30,000 spindles. In 2006, ICIL commenced forward integration of its operations by setting up a state-of-the art home textiles manufacturing unit in Kolhapur, Maharashtra with an installed capacity of 36 million metres per annum. Over the years, the company has transformed itself into one of India’s leading suppliers and exporters of bed linen. ICIL is listed on the NSE and BSE.

In April 2022, ICIL completed the acquisition of GHCL’s home textile unit with an installed capacity of 45 million metres per annum along with commensurate cut and sew capacity. The company is also undertaking expansion of its existing facilities by 18 million metres per annum, which would increase the total installed capacity to 153 million metres per annum.

With a presence of more than three decades, Indo Count is the largest manufacturer and exporter of bed sheets, bed linen, and quilts from India. It is recognised among the top three global bed sheet suppliers in the US. The product basket of the company includes sheet sets, fashion bedding, utility bedding and institutional bedding. Indo Count is a four-star export house and has state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities at Kolhapur, Maharashtra. With the successful acquisition of the home textile business of GHCL, the company now has presence in twin states geographies viz. Gujarat and Maharashtra.

Starting with a capacity of 36 million meters, the company has enhanced its capacity to 135 million meters and 18 million meters is under progress. The company has three divisions, namely, spinning, home textiles and retail. I am delighted to share that in April 2022, Indo Count successfully completed the acquisition of the home textile business of GHCL.”

“With this addition, Indo Count becomes the largest home textile bed linen company globally with an annual capacity of 153 million meters. As a part of the deal, Indo Count Global Inc., acquired inventory and IPs of Grace Home Fashions LLC. We have added new brands to our existing portfolio, and we believe with the innovation and technological capabilities of the acquired brand, patent and trademark we will further strengthen our brand portfolio and offering.

“The company has initiated new capex to modernise and enhance spinning capacity at Pranavaditya Spinning Mills at an investment of Rs. 270 crore,” he further informed. The proposed capex will involve 68,000 spindles that will generate value-added specialized yarn to cater its captive needs. The Phase I of 24,192 spindles is expected to be operational by December, 2022 and Phase II of 43,776 spindles.

Brands, Marketing and Technology

Indo Count has also partnered with UK brand Jasper Conran for an exclusive bed and bath collection which was launched in spring 2022 as scheduled. The range is marketed internationally under the Jasper Conran London brand, exclusively through Indo Count. The partnership will support Indo Count’s long-term vision to be in a niche segment for home textile across the globe.
