Kallam Textiles plans weaving and processing capacity expansion

Kallam Textiles Ltd. has announced the next phase of expansion of weaving capacity by 20-25%. The company is also setting up a process house which will help in selling processed fabric to brands, garment manufacturers and exporters. Currently Kallam has 248 looms with a capacity of 80,000 meters of woven fabric per day. Woven fabric includes 70% yarn dyed shirting and 30% of bottom weight fabric.

Established in 1994 with an initial capacity of 12,000 spindles, Kallam is engaged in the business of ginning of cotton, ring spinning of cotton yarn, open end rotor yarn, yarn dyeing, grey fabric and grey yarn dyed fabric. It commenced its commercial production in 1995. The company has by now expanded to 59,280 ring spindles and 2,912 rotors, 28 high capacity gins, 248 airjet & rapier looms, 500 kgs / day yarn dyeing plant and 4.0 mw hydel power generation.

With its state-of-the-art infrastructure, Kallam has carved a niche for itself on the textile map of the country. Its spinning operations commenced in 1995 with 12,096 spindles. Currently the company operates 59,280 spindles of ring spinning out of which 31,488 spindles are compact.

Kallam set up its rotor spinning unit in 2009-2010 with 1,248 rotors. Currently the capacity is 2,912 rotors. Kallam produces superior quality yarn to turn out garments.

The company commenced its dyeing unit in 2015 with an initial capacity of 3,000 kg per day, now expanded to 5,000 kg per day. It also offers fabrics with cotton 100% blended with lycra, polyester, nylon, linen and viscose fabrics.
