Komal Texfab’s decades-long journey with a difference

Bets on Inspiron machines for higher profitability

Komal Texfab, a company that was started from scratch and grew into one of the biggest printing, dyeing and processing houses in India, serves as an example of determination and working to achieve a goal. Not all ideas that arise in the minds of people take shape, and not many that take shape survive. But Komal Texfab has set an example for a lot of good ideas to take shape and achieve the heights that it was meant for.

Mr. Suresh P. Bagrecha, Chairman & Managing Director, Komal Texfab

The company started, in 1981 as a hand-screen printing unit and with a lot of effort put in by the founders and the management team, it grew to become what it is today. By 1991, the company started using state-of-the-art technology, and was producing goods at a fully mechanized mill. The company stepped into garment production in 2001 after conquering all of its previous ventures.

Although the company does not manufacture yarn, it has in-house manufacturing facilities for the processes needed to manufacture yarn to garments. Using the best raw materials and the quality machinery, the company guarantees client satisfaction in terms of product quality.

The company is primarily involved in printing, dyeing and processing, and supplies fabrics to many of the known domestic brands like Lux, Dollar, Jockey and Dixcy. Komal Texfab, unlike the other printing, processing and dyeing houses across India which have separate units for each of the processes, has all the processes integrated in all its units, making its easier for manufacturing and provides a single roof for all the processed to be completed. The company also gives tight competition to a lot of rivals in the field and printing houses across India.

Komal Texfab has many skilled employees in the knitted fabric sector who work their best to make the highest quality product and also keep up to date with the client service trends.

Another cutting edge that the company has over other players is that there are not many companies that are totally involved in knitting and printing. Many companies are good at woven fabrics, but Komal Texfab has its complete focus on knitting and printing that makes it a focused unit producing quality fabrics.

One of the changes is the losing of China’s grip over the knitted fabric market, after which the business has mostly landed in the hands of Vietnamese and Bangladeshi manufacturers.

Commenting on this scenario, Mr. Suresh P. Bagrecha, Chairman & Managing Director, Komal Texfab, said: “These countries possess cheap labor and produce cheap quality polyester fabric. India has no competition with them as the players here are producing top quality products.”

According to Mr. Bagrecha, just like Komal Texfab produces 100% cotton products of superior quality, the Indian players produce quality products using the best raw materials. India is a county where good quality cotton is grown in abundance, and the cheap polyester products cannot compete with the Indian products.

Komal Texfab, started with a workforce of 20, has grown today to a workforce of 2500 people. It has five manufacturing units all over Ahmadabad for processing and garmenting combined, with all plants running at full capacity and supplying to the top brands across India.

Komal Texfab enjoys very good relations with Inspiron and its Motex stenter has been a part of Komal’s success story. Komal Texfab bought its first Motex stenter in 2014 and experienced the benefits of a high end stenter of genuine European technolgy. These machines have been designed specifically for meeting its processing needs. Since then, InspirOn’s technology has played a key role to produce quality fabric at Komal Texfab.

Excellent performance of Motex stenter in terms of higher productivity with desired quality parameter has made the Motex brand an obvious and ultimate choice for finishing. However, InspirOn Engineering did not sit on its laurels! Its latest introduction of Motex 15000 stenter has surpassed customers’ expectations, thanks to the in-house Research & Development Center.

In 2018 when Komal Texfab decided to add capacity, Motex 15000 was the obvious choice. The performance of the Motex 15000 stenter for the past many months have more than proved the wisdom of Komal Texfab and the designing capability of InspirOn engineering!

As Mr. Bagrecha said in an exclusive interview to The Textile Magazine, “Inspiron has good quality stenters and they provide the best aftersales services, and even the return on investment is not more than one year.” The company uses Inspiron machines for heat setting of Lycra fabrics which gives it a very high value addition.

“Another advantage of these stenters is accurate setting of dimensional properties with desired feel that no other machines provide with easy maintenance and good service support from the manufacturers”, added Mr. Bagrecha.

The company has achieved a lot of success throughout its journey of 37 years. It has been expanding at a commendable pace and plans to reach the production goal of 1,000 tons of fabric per month, which comes to approx 33 tons per day. It also plans to venture into two new Ahmadabad-based garment manufacturing companies in the next five years. The addition of these companies will not only result in the growth of Komal Texfab but also add to its capacities and overall turnover.

Even with the production trends shifting to Vietnam and Bangladesh, and many Indian players setting up their capacities in these countries, Komal Texfab plans to take advantage of its firm roots in India. The company plans to expand and grow domestically with its tight grip on the market. The customers of the company are very happy with the quality of products that they receive, considered a preferred brand in the Indian market.

Throughout, Mr. Bagrecha has relied on the support of his family and has acknowledged that the company could not have grown without the support from his family. He plans to move forward and expand the business with further support from his family.

Thus Komal Texfab set milestones for other entrepreneurs to follow. Moving ahead, the company has set its goals well and has acquired the resources that would make the attainment of its goals possible.
