KPR stepping up investment in Apparel manufacturing

KPR Mill Limited (KPR) has increased manufacturing capacities in garment and sugar cum ethanol segments. To facilitate the same the group has established a new entity in the name of KPR Sugar and Apparels Limited (KPRSAL). It is setting up a new garment manufacturing unit at Tirupur District with a capacity to produce 42 million garments per annum. KPRSAL is also setting up a sugar co-gen cum ethanol plant with a capacity to produce 10,000 TCD sugar, 220 KLPD ethanol and 50 MW co-gen at Gulbargah District in Karnataka. These new moves are expected to increase value-addition and thereby enhance the revenue of the group as a whole. KPR registered highest ever revenue of Rs 3,569 crore.

KPR Mill currently has 12 manufacturing units of advanced technology equipped with the capacity to produce 1,00,000 MT of yarn, 40,000 MT fabric and 115 million readymade knitted apparel per annum, making it one of the largest garment producers in India. The company also boasts of an ETP-embedded fabric processing capacity of 25,000 MT per annum equipped with advanced cold processing technology and sophisticated printing division with the capacity to print 7,500 MT per annum, 1,00,000 high-fashion garments placement printing per day, 66 wind mills with a total green power generation capacity of 61.92 MW, co-gen cum sugar plant with a capacity of 40 MW and 10,000 TCD and ethanol plant with 130 KLPD capacity.

KPR Mill has recently added the latest vortex machine for producing various blends and range of value-added viscose yarn to create a new wave of fashion. The new advanced technology-driven knitting facility housing contemporary imported knitting machines is adding value to the production facilities. It has received encouraging response to its maiden venture into the retail business under its own brand named ‘FASO’, producing a first-of-its-kind 100% organic cotton menswear. Launched across South India, FASO has been well-accepted. It is produced using 100% organic cotton which results in ultra-soft comfort and skin-friendliness.

Proving its strong fundamentals and leadership, KPR Mill was able to withstand all hurdles during this tough time by delivering a good performance. KPR Mill is largely engaged in manufacturing cotton products but given the fact that the market is slowly moving into value-added manmade fibres, the company is gearing up to meet this new trend and demand, the vortex machine being an example. The additional garment capacity is slated to add to the revenue.
