KPR’s capacity addition and modernisation in progress

KPR’s journey into textiles began in 1984. In 1989, the group ventured into garment exports. Today KPR is a leading garment exporter as well as a top vertically integrated apparel company, engaged in manufacturing and marketing readymade knitted garments, knitted fabrics and cotton yarn.

KPR Mill has a cumulative capacity of 3,36,960 spindles to produce 86,000 mt of yarn per annum, the knitting facility to produce 21,000 mt of fabrics, the garmenting facility to produce 63 million pieces of ready-made knitted apparel and the processing facility to process 9,000 mt per annum.

KPR clocked a turnover of Rs. 1,275 crores for 2011-12. During the year, its exports increased 32 per cent to Rs. 395 crores from Rs. 300 crores of the previous year. Yarn sales moved up by 19 per cent to Rs. 689 crores from Rs. 579 crores. EBITDA was Rs. 187 crores (Rs. 251 crores) and the net profit Rs. 33 crores (Rs. 72 crores). Exports constituted 36 per cent of net sales.

During the year, the company successfully installed value-added capacities of compact yarn. The melange yarn capacity addition and modernization of the Sathyamangalam plant are nearing completion. The company drive towards 100 per cent self-sufficiency in power is also on course through its co-gen-cum sugar plant at Bijapur.
