Mohan Spintex India Limited (MSIL) was founded in the year 2005 and started commercial production in October 2006 with just 14,400 spindles.

Today, Mohan Spintex is a global player with state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities across multiple locations. The company employs nearly 5,500 people out of which 45% are women employees. Says Chowdary: “We aim to achieve a turnover of Rs 1,000 crore during the current financial year. Our vision is to achieve Rs 2,000 crore turnover by 2025 with an IPO and listing in the stock markets.”

Production Infrastructure

Mohan Spintex has the capacity to produce over 2,500 tonnes of quality yarn and 28,50,000 metres of processed fabric and 4,50,000 sheet sets per month. “We have invested Rs 400 crore during 2018 to 2020 towards forward integration and have plans to invest another Rs 360 crore in the future towards value-added products and expansion in the portfolio. We are also planning to install 10 MW rooftop solar panels in the existing units with an investment of around Rs 38 crore,” informs Chowdary.

Product Portfolio

Mohan Spintex’s product portfolio includes 100% cotton, blends of cotton with polyester, viscose, modal, linen and lyocell fabric. The weaves include percale, satin, twill, damask stripe, pin stripe, dobby and jacquard. In the home textile segment Mohan Spintex offers sheet sets such as flat sheet, fitted sheet, pillow case, duvet covers, pillow shams, pillow protectors, cushion covers, mattress protectors, bed skirts, bed pads, pillow shells, comforters and comforter shells. It offers end-to-end solution for BCI cotton, organic cotton, Egyptian cotton and Supima cotton products.

The company complies with ISO – 9001:2015, 14001:2015, 45001:2016, GOTS, Detox, Egyptian Cotton, Wrap, Sedex and CTPAT to meet international customer requirements. It produces 1,350 metric tonnes of top-quality compact yarn per month with its compacting system and offers a much wider range in yarn count — 30s to 100s with Indian origin cotton (MCU 5) and with a blend of Giza 86 | DCH32. “We produce over 900 metric tonnes of quality open end yarn, sought after by the elite in China. Our advanced facilities ensure that our yarns are perfectly suited to work in high-speed air jet looms and are of a consistent quality throughout,” points out Chowdary. With its fleet of TFO machinery, Mohan Spintex produces 200 tonnes of fault-free 2 ply knot and knotless yarns per month.

The ply yarn (knotted and knotless) is available in a wide range and is perfectly suited for the manufacture of denim and shirting. “We use only state-of-the-art weaving machinery capable of producing over 2.85 million metres per month in both narrow and wider widths. Our processes are supported by the latest warping and sizing machines from Karl Mayer. Mohan Spintex delivers the best quality fabric, ranging from 200 TC to 1,200 TC, with packing options that include roll or bale packing. The company has invested in best preparatory and weaving technology including warping and sizing machines from Karl Mayer and looms from Picanol’s latest Summum air jet range capable of running at 1,100 rpm. For processing, Mohan Spintex has invested in world-class machinery such as Osthof singeing, Benninger bleaching, mercerising and dyeing, Bruckner and Monforts for finishing and Zimmer printing.

Setting High Standards

Talking about adapting Industry 4.0 and automation, Chowdary states, “We are adopting Industry 4.0 technology for all our latest machines and integrating it with our ERP for real-time data entry, reports and analytics. We have systematic SOPs for traceability. Automation has been implemented at all our spinning units like roving bobbin transportation, automatic doffers and link corners, etc. All our processing machines and weaving machines are equipped with Industry 4.0 technology.” Mohan Spintex has been witnessing consistent growth over the years. Domestic sales account for 80% and exports are 20% to over 22 countries worldwide, including direct retailers in USA, Canada, Europe, Australia, Bangladesh and China.
