NEXT GENERATION ENTREPRENEURS – Prashant Mohota, Managing Director, Gimatex

Mr. Prashant Mohota is Managing Director of Gimatex Industries, a vertically integrated company in textiles, right from ginning, spinning, weaving & processing. In a short span of his business life of 10 years he has helped his company grow and spread its wings to various locations across India. Under his spirited leadership he has been able to change his 118+ year-old company into a lean, IT-savvy and innovative firm with his various Change Management approach. Today his company gives direct employment to about 500 staff and more than 3,000 workers.

Other than textiles, Mr. Mohota also has business interests in oil & food industry and stoneware pipes. He is the main promoter of Hinganghat Integrated Textile Park (HITP), the first of its kind in Vidarbha (Maharashtra) approved by the Central Government-promoted SITP. He is currently the Vice President of Vidarbha Industries Association (VIA).

Mr. Prashant Mohota did his B.E. in Industrial Engineering and went on to do his MBA from the National Institute for Industrial Engineering (NITIE, Powai). Initially he worked with i2 technologies, a supply chain management company based out of Bangalore and then joined the family business handling the textile vertical.

Achievements & Awards

Mr. Prashant Mohota won the youngest Vice President of VIA when he was 33 years old. Under his leadership, the company has won several Safety, Energy Conservation Awards at the national level. He says: “I hope to become an entrepreneur who helps grow all the stake-holders of the organization economically and contribute to the growth of this great nation”.

Other than business, his interests lie in areas like sports. He is an active sportsman and regularly plays cricket, tennis, badminton, etc. He is also involved in various social organizations such as schools and hospitals. A trustee & executive member of Bhavan’s GVM (Hinganghat Kendra), Progressive Education Society & Mathuradas Mohota Science College, Nagpur, he has also been the past President of his Rotary Club.
