New facility at Coimbatore to manufacture spindle tapes
In a spinning process, it is a well known fact that fibers are drawn and twisted onto spindles, a process necessary to strengthen yarns before they are used in the production of woven and knit fabrics. According to experts, one component that plays a vital role in transfer of power from the motor to the spindles and has a vivid effect on the performance of ring spinning machines is the spindle tape.
Small as it may seem, these tapes are crucial when it comes to maximizing the yield and the assured quality of the yarn. In this modern age there is always added pressure on the accessories manufacturer to come up with products for better performance at competitive pricing.
SAGOTHAREN, a partnership firm, started its project in Coimbatore, a strategic location quoted by many as ‘the Heart of Indian Spinning Industry’. With a touch of ethnicity, the management decided to name this new entity as SAGOTHAREN, meaning unbreakable friendship and brotherhood.

The company is already talking with Chiorino management and it will be finalised soon. Chiorino is already having a joint venture in India in the name of Franstek Belts Pvt. Ltd., based in Goa. The company fabricates power transmission belts, conveyor belts, printing blankets, etc., made by the 110-year-old Chiorino. The products already enjoy a good market in India. With the addition of synthetic spindle tapes made by SAGOTHAREN, marketed through Chiorino distribution network under the brand name Chiorino, will have entire range of products for textile industry.
“It was the need of the hour. It was a calculated decision to set up the plant in Coimbatore. The project will incubate cutting edge technology and machinery to manufacture the latest and most convenient product, i.e., spindle tapes. More products will get included in the portfolio in the years to come”, said Mr. N. Gokulakrishnan, Managing Partner of SAGOTHAREN, in an exclusive interview to The Textile Magazine.
