Salmoiraghi’s successful synthetic fibre automatic handling technology

The Salmoiraghi Automatic Handling Group is an internationally reputed market leader in automated handling and storage systems for POY-FDY-DTY-IY continuous yarn bobbins, as well as other textile products. Its field-proven technology works around the clock in more than 150 automation systems installed in 15 countries, augmenting plant efficiency and profitability. Every day, Salmoiraghi automated handling systems process over 1.500.000 synthetic yarn bobbins.

Salmoiraghi will display two absolute novelties at ITMA 2015. Both are doffing solutions specifically designed to serve the latest generation “Twin Type” winders (TMT “Manta”, and Barmag “Wings” and “I-QOON”) for synthetic continuous yarn.

The first exhibit is the “IGV 2 automatic doffing system”. This is a battery-driven vehicle equipped with a special doffing module featuring twin bobbin mandrels, and a pusher device. The vehicle has a state-of-the-art inertial guidance system, ensuring millimeter positioning accuracy in front of the winder.

This compact, highly manoeuvrable vehicle is the only feasible automatic doffing solution in winding aisles characterized by low ceilings and tight spaces, which preclude the use of classic overhead rail guided Doffers. It is also an excellent solution, helping avoid fabrication and installation of complex supporting structures.

IGV 2 can doff both latest generation twin chuck winders and classic single chuck winders. If required, the vehicle can directly connect the winding and packing areas.

The second novelty is the “Twin Mandrel Doffer” for 10+10 or 12+12 ends, designed to transfer the doffed bobbins to “shuttle” transport vehicles travelling on overhead monorail circuits – a technology widely used by Salmoiraghi in many automated handling systems installed worldwide.

All Salmoiraghi doffers feature numerous sustainable technology and energy saving solutions, making them the “greenest”, quietest and the most reliable. This is indicated by the certified “green label” affixed on these machines.

With these exhibits, Salmoiraghi reconfirms its leadership position in automated handling solutions for the man-made fiber industry.

Visitors to the company stand will have the opportunity to discuss their specific automation needs with the Salmoiraghi team. Extensive multi-media documentation will be available to show the various engineering solutions available for small, medium and large textile plants.

The company product range covers automated handling and warehousing systems for the textile industry, autowarehouses for bobbin pallets, bales and fabric rolls, automated logistics terminals, internal handling and storage systems for industrial plants, overhead transport systems with payloads from 10 to 1000 kg, various types of ground conveyors and load transport vehicles, product bulk packing lines, machine control and system supervision software, and factory automation systems.
