Setting Benchmark Standards in Carded Counts: LMW Delivers Industry Best Performance at M/s. Chowdary Spinners

Cotton carded yarn continues to offer balance between cost efficiency and performance across spinning mills worldwide. Carded yarn plays a crucial role in meeting the demands of garmenting, knitting, and weaving sectors. With evolving expectations for consistency, strength, and reduced imperfections, mills today are under constant pressure to deliver superior yarn quality while maintaining tight control over conversion costs.

LMW Limited, has consistently been at the forefront of innovation in spinning technology, delivering integrated solutions tailored to evolving industry needs. With a deep understanding of cotton processing dynamics, LMW’s latest generation ring frames are engineered to address the twin challenges of productivity and quality. The LRJ 9/SX ring frame, equipped with advanced Spinpact compacting technology, represents a significant leap in ring spinning evolution.

Located in Tanuku, Andhra Pradesh, Chowdary Spinners has established itself as a reliable producer of 100% Carded Cotton Compact yarns since its inception in 1995. With a total spindleage of 20,400, the mill specializes in producing a wide range of yarn counts from Ne 10s to 80s, catering primarily to the domestic garmenting sector. The mill also operates integrated yarn dyeing, weaving, and garmenting divisions covering the entire textile value chain and recently launched the PRING SHIRTS brand of men’s shirts.

Under the leadership of Shri. Ch Prasad Chowdary, Managing Director, the company has consistently focused on modernization and process optimization to stay competitive. Their investment philosophy emphasizes adopting proven technologies that deliver measurable gains in productivity, yarn quality, and operational efficiency. The addition of LMW’s latest LRJ 9/SX compact ring frame aligns perfectly with this vision.

The Modernization Success Story at Chowdary Spinners

In March 2025, Chowdary Spinners modernized the plant with LRJ 9/SX ring frame with 1200 spindles and Spinpact, specifically for processing 40s KWP cotton carded compact yarn. This installation was strategically positioned along with existing LR6/S machines with compact systems. The new LRJ 9/SX machine equipped with high-end features maximizes technological advantages in compact spinning.

Mr Ch Prasad Chowdary, Managing Director, “Design Innovations in LRJ 9/SX model Ring Frame by LMW is helping us to secure our margins through significant increase in production levels & reduction of conversion costs.”

The LRJ 9/SX Ring Frame delivers significant technological advantages for cotton carded compact spinning applications. Equipped with LMW’s innovative 720 CC Smart Spinning Geometry, it ensures superior spinning performance, enhanced yarn quality, and improved operational efficiency. The incorporation of high-precision components such as CREDO+ Rings and HLED Spindles enables higher spindle speeds with excellent running stability. To further enhance productivity and reduce operator dependency, the machine offers advanced automation solutions as optional features, including the Bobbin Transportation System (BTS), Yarn Break Sensor (YBS), and Roving Stop Motion (RSM) systems, making it a highly efficient and future-ready spinning solution.

These innovations collectively ensure better fiber control, reduced hairiness, lower imperfections, and consistent yarn strength. For mills processing a wide count range, from Ne 10s to 80s, the machine delivers unmatched flexibility and efficiency, making it an ideal choice for customers aiming to scale up productivity without compromising yarn quality.

Performance Breakthrough – Benchmarking GPSS and enhanced quality in Ne 40s Cotton Carded Compact

The modernization gave significant benefits. Operating at an average spindle speed of 24,269 rpm, compared to 18,211 rpm on their existing LR6/S machines, the LRJ 9/SX achieved a remarkable 33% increase in spindle speed. This translated directly into a GPSS improvement from 125 to 160, marking a productivity gain of over 28%.

Equally impressive are the gains in yarn quality, the yarn U% shows an improvement of 4% (reduction from 15.12 to 14.48) and Total IPI/km shows an improvement of 14% (reduction from 2727 to 2348).

Further, the yarn CSP improved from 2200 to 2300 (+4.5%), while the Hairiness index saw a substantial reduction of 11%, contributing to better downstream performance in weaving and knitting.

Notably, these improvements were achieved while maintaining the same raw material, process parameters, and end-use conditions, clearly demonstrating the machine’s intrinsic technological superiority.

Reflecting on the impact of the new installation, Mr Ch Prasad Chowdary, Managing Director, adds, “The machine’s smart features and innovative design enable consistent quality performance at higher speeds. In addition, the support from LMW & UMPESL teams are always proactive and has been instrumental in ensuring seamless installation and continuous optimization of machine performance.”

This statement represents the core value delivered by the LRJ 9/SX, enhancing profitability through a combination of higher output and improved yarn quality.

A New Benchmark for the Industry

The successful deployment of the LRJ 9/SX Ring frame at Chowdary Spinners marks a significant milestone in 40s Cotton Carded Compact spinning. By delivering a remarkable 30% productivity enhancement while simultaneously elevating yarn quality standards, LMW has once again demonstrated its ability to translate technological innovation into measurable customer value. The project stands as a testament to LMW’s relentless pursuit of performance, efficiency, and excellence in modern spinning.
