Successful Entry into the Coarse-Count Segment with Rieter’s Autoconer X6

To strengthen its market position and diversify beyond commodity yarns, the company Coarser Spinning invested in an integrated Rieter ring spinning and winding solution for yarn counts Ne 4 to Ne 16. The combination of ring spinning machines G 38 and Autoconer X6 winding technology enables efficient coarse-count yarn production with outstanding quality, productivity and cost efficiency.

Dharmesh Patel confirms that Autoconer X6 delivers the stability and process control needed for coarse-count spinning

Phenix Spinning Pvt. Ltd. founded Coarser Spinning Pvt. Ltd. in 2022 to diversify beyond the highly competitive commodity yarn market. The coarse count segment with yarn counts of Ne 4 to Ne 16 offered opportunities for differentiation and entry into more specialized applications. To succeed, the company needed a reliable and cost-efficient spinning solution capable of producing these coarse yarns with consistent quality at superior productivity. High yarn, splice and package quality were essential to support efficient downstream processing and the company’s long-term growth strategy.

Building a future-ready spinning system

Coarser Spinning expanded its coarse count production by investing in 10 ring spinning machines G 38 directly linked to the winding machines Autoconer X6 Type V (Fig. 1), creating an integrated Rieter spinning system. With the direct-link setup Coarser Spinning benefits from smooth material flow, high productivity and consistent yarn quality, while minimizing operator intervention. Supported by advanced winding technology, the system delivers excellent yarn, splice and package quality, providing the performance and reliability needed to establish Coarser Spinning in this market segment. The investment adds an annual capacity of 9 600 tons of coarse yarns alongside the 9 000 tons of commodity yarns produced by Phenix Spinning Pvt. Ltd.

Large packages of over four kg improve weaving efficiency

Delivering real benefits

With the Rieter link system connecting ring spinning and winding, Coarser Spinning achieves higher productivity and cost efficiency, while customers benefit from excellent package quality in downstream performance. Continuous process and quality monitoring reduces stoppages and supports process optimization. Large packages of over four kg improve weaving efficiency through higher unwinding speeds and less handling (Fig. 2). Outstanding splice quality – in strength, appearance and elasticity – is ensured by the OZ2 open prism technology combined with the Injectionsplicer, delivering reliable performance across a wide range of yarn applications, including elastic core yarns.

Low maintenance and energy consumption

Dharmesh Patel, owner of Coarser Spinning, confirms: “The Autoconer X6 delivers the stability and process control needed for coarse-count spinning, while smart automation features help reduce manual effort and increase efficiency” (Fig. 3). Low energy and air consumption, reduced manpower requirements and minimal maintenance effort further enhance overall cost efficiency. Operators particularly appreciate the Autoconer’s ease of use, supported by features such as the autocalibration function, Smartjet upper yarn search and stable material flow, even under the high load of coarse count production. Together, these advantages deliver a solid return on investment and provide Coarser Spinning with a reliable platform for sustainable growth in its new market segment.
