Trident increasing volumes in bed and bath linen

Trident’s Bed Linen business has grown both in volume & realizations in a very short span of time achieving 60% capacity utilization during 2018 despite huge de-stocking which the industry witnessed last year. There is a turnaround in the home textile segment and as a result Trident has been able to achieve highest ever volumes in both Bed Linen and Bath Linen segment.

Trident manufactures bed linen at its manufacturing unit at Budni. It has an installed capacity of 500 looms with a capability to produce 43.2 million mtrs annually. Within a short time-span, the company has been able to make successful in roads into the domestic and international markets through its quality offerings.

Trident recently showcased new products and innovations at a textile week held in New York. The company has boosted its presence by expanding its team at its US office in Sales and Marketing, Design and Operations domain. The company is continuously evaluating and improving its approach to serve the market. Apart from the US market, Trident is focusing on major markets in Europe including Germany, France, Netherlands & Norway, Denmark, Sweden & Poland in Scandinavia.

Trident’s Terry Towel division accounts for major part of the revenues in the home textile segment. It is manufactured at Budni (Madhya Pradesh) – the largest standalone terry towel facility and Barnala (Punjab). The company has an installed capacity of 688 looms to produce 90,000 MT per annum/360 million pieces of terry towels annually. Trident’s state-of-the-art production facilities include spinning, wide-width airjet and jacquard weaving, soft flow dyeing and fully-automated cutting and sewing of the towels.

Trident is planning to further consolidate its business by leveraging the existing customers and also adding new customers to its portfolio. In the first half of FY19, Trident’s Bed and Bath Linen contributed more than 50% of the Total Revenue which stood at Rs. 1264 crores.

 

Trident has been incurring small maintenance capex in the form of de-bottlenecking and upgradation of capacities, approximately INR 100 crores a year and the company plans to continue such investment in the coming years. The company is also investing in captive co-generation Steam (2 x 150 TPH) and Power Plant (2 x 30 MW) facility in Budni.

Trident’s spinning division produces cotton, compact and blended yarns. It has the largest spinning installation at single campus in India. Presently, Trident has an installed capacity of 5.5 lakhs spindles and 6,464 rotors with a capacity to produce 90,000 tpa of cotton, compact and blended yarn. The division also has dyed-yarn capacity of 6,825 tpa. While nearly 35% of the produce is consumed by the bath & bed linen units, rest is sold in the domestic and international markets. The manufacturing units are equipped with state-of-the-art technology – sourced from world class manufacturers.
