Focus on Indian Spinning Industry – Welspun

Welspun India Ltd. (WIL), one of the world’s largest home textile manufacturers, is a fully integrated one-stop shop for home textiles. Welspun’s product portfolio comprises towels, bath robes, bath rugs, mats, area rugs, carpets, bedsheets, utility bedding and fashion bedding.

Welspun has two top-of-the-line manufacturing facilities in Vapi and Anjar (Gujarat). These are Asia’s largest, completely vertically integrated lines in farm- to-finish production across diverse products. Welspun has an installed capacity of over 3,05,000 spindles and 1,000 looms. The total annual capacity stands at 60,000 MT for towels, 72 million metres in bed linen and 8 million sq. metres in rugs & carpets.

Welspun Vision 2020 targets $2 billion revenue in five years. In 2015, the company successfully commissioned 1,70,000 spindles for producing fine count yarn during the year. The spinning unit, inaugurated at Anjar in Gujarat, is India’s one of the largest such unit under one roof. The new facility will fulfill nearly 70 per cent of its internal yarn requirement. This will further improve the company’s supply chain with less dependence on external sourcing.

Welspun has a unique range of Hygrocotton products where the fabric is made via a patented fabric manufacturing process leading to hollow core yarns. A path-breaking process that helps regulate the temperature of the fabric – keeping it cool in summers and warm in winters while the towels get loftier and absorbent after every wash. The Hygrocotton product range includes bed sheets, towels, rugs and comforters.
