Garden Silks looking beyond sarees PFY capacity hike underway

Garden Silk Mills continues to be the largest p10roducer of polyester chips in India, for both textile and film applications. Total production of chips for the current calendar year was higher at 3,66,128 mt as against 3,56,327 mt in the previous year. The company has introduced silica-dosed chips for the polyester film industry, has begun sale of master batch chips and also has reintroduced full dull chips in the current year.

In the current challenging environment in India, Garden’s weaving division continues to be at the forefront of fabric engineering. Its vast collection of over 14,000 fabric designs and finished products enables it to collaborate with customers to quickly arrive at alternate products. Its finished fabric division continues to focus on cottons, 100 per cent viscose filament, Bemberg as well as blended varieties like poly-viscose and poly-cotton fabrics.

The company has also introduced numerous exclusive digital-designed new sarees for daily wear as well as wedding wears. In 2012-13, Garden Silk Mills achieved a gross revenue of Rs. 4,026.09 crores, an increase of seven per cent on a Y-o-Y basis. Sales of chips for FY 2012-13 went higher by 8.3 per cent at Rs. 1,917.40 crores and sales of yarn (including processed yarn) increased by 6.6 per cent at Rs. 1,865.60 crores. The company’s fabric sales reached Rs. 126.25 crores (an increase of 16.8 per cent). In volume terms, the chips sales were higher at 2,15,196 mt as against 2,11,093 mt in the previous year, and sales of yarn (including processed yarn) were at 1,57,820 mt as against 1,56,246 mt in 2012. The company’s finished fabric sale amounted to 167.14 lakh metres as against 154.94 lakh metres in 2012. Income from export sales for 2012-13 was marginally higher at Rs. 426.59 crores as against Rs. 412.24 crores in 2011-12.
