Harshal Patel and Brij Patel Outline the Company’s Innovation-Led Journey and Global Growth Vision

As the textile industry moves towards greater automation, digitalization and intelligent manufacturing, Indian engineering companies are increasingly demonstrating their capability to develop globally competitive technologies. One such company is Hitech Automation Solutions Pvt. Ltd., which has built a strong reputation over nearly four decades by developing innovative automation and sensor solutions for the DTY texturizing industry.

The company’s latest milestone is its strategic partnership with Barmag, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of man-made fibre spinning and texturing machinery. The collaboration marks a significant recognition of Hitech’s technological capabilities and opens new opportunities for the company’s patented automation solutions in global markets.

Speaking to The Textile Magazine, Mr. Harshal Patel and Mr. Brij Patel, Directors, Hitech Automation Solutions Pvt. Ltd., shared insights into the company’s evolution, its innovation-driven philosophy and the significance of partnering with one of the industry’s most respected global machinery manufacturers.

“Our objective has always been to develop original technologies rather than copy existing solutions. Innovation has remained the foundation of everything we have built over the years,” says Mr. Harshal Patel.

From Service Provider to Technology Leader

Founded in 1988, Hitech Automation Solutions began as a service provider to India’s emerging DTY yarn industry, supporting imported texturizing machines at a time when specialized service infrastructure was limited. Over the years, the company steadily expanded into product development, introducing indigenous yarn break detectors, tension monitoring systems and intelligent quality monitoring solutions.

Today, Hitech designs and manufactures a comprehensive range of automation systems entirely in-house, including sensors, electronics, embedded software, analytical platforms and cloud-based monitoring systems. The company enjoys an estimated 80 percent market share in India for its yarn quality monitoring systems and has recently accelerated its international expansion through participation in leading exhibitions such as ITMA, ITM Turkey and upcoming global events.

“Everything—from sensor design and electronics to software and cloud analytics—is developed under one roof. That complete control allows us to continuously improve performance and reliability,” explains Mr. Brij Patel.

A Partnership Built on Innovation

Hitech’s partnership with Barmag represents the culmination of several years of product development and technical validation.
Discussions between the two companies began in 2022 after Hitech showcased its proprietary DoffMatic automation system—a compact automatic doffing solution designed for DTY texturizing machines. Unlike conventional multi-body automation systems that require significant additional floor space and major machine modifications, DoffMatic has been engineered as a compact retrofit solution that can be integrated into existing machines without altering their basic architecture.

The system addresses one of the industry’s longstanding challenges by reducing manual intervention during doffing while improving productivity, consistency and package quality.

“We wanted to develop an automation system that solved practical problems without increasing complexity. Our solution occupies no additional floor space, is easy to operate and can even be retrofitted on existing installations,” says Mr. Harshal Patel.

Meeting Global Standards Through Indigenous Engineering

Before formalizing the partnership, Barmag conducted an extensive evaluation of Hitech’s technology. The company installed a complete Barmag texturizing machine at its own facility, integrated the DoffMatic automation system and subjected it to comprehensive testing across multiple yarn counts and operating conditions.

Technical experts from Barmag’s process, maintenance, electrical and product development teams carried out several rounds of audits before approving the technology.

According to the directors, one of the factors that distinguished Hitech during Barmag’s evaluation was its emphasis on original engineering rather than reverse engineering.

“When they evaluated our products, they realized our designs were entirely original. We had developed our own concepts instead of copying existing technologies, and that aligned perfectly with their own philosophy of innovation,” remarks Mr. Brij Patel.
The partnership is exclusive, with both companies jointly investing in technology development, product promotion and global market expansion.

Smart Automation for Modern Textile Mills

Beyond automation, Hitech has established itself as a specialist in intelligent sensing technologies.

Its yarn quality monitoring systems provide real-time quality monitoring across DTY production lines, enabling manufacturers to identify process variations instantly rather than waiting for laboratory inspections after package completion. Integrated cloud-based software allows production data to be monitored remotely through centralized dashboards and mobile devices, providing valuable insights into machine efficiency, yarn quality and production performance.

The company is now extending its expertise into cotton spinning and POY applications through a new generation of tension and yarn presence sensors specifically designed to operate under more demanding production environments.

“Our strength lies in sensing technology. Over the years we have developed deep expertise in measuring yarn tension and yarn presence with extremely high reliability, and we are now applying that knowledge across new textile segments,” says Mr. Harshal Patel.

Global Opportunities Ahead

The partnership with Barmag significantly expands Hitech’s international reach. With more than 15,000 Barmag installations worldwide and an extensive global service network, the collaboration provides Hitech access to a much larger customer base while ensuring local service support for international users.

The directors believe automation will become increasingly important as textile manufacturers seek to improve productivity, reduce dependence on labour and meet the growing demand for consistent, high-quality production.

“Automation is no longer just about reducing labour. It is about improving process consistency, reducing errors and enabling manufacturers to remain globally competitive. We believe this is where the future of the DTY industry lies,” observes Mr. Brij Patel.

Supported by multiple international patents and a strong pipeline of new developments, Hitech is well positioned to expand its presence across global markets while continuing to develop next-generation automation solutions.

Looking Ahead

As Hitech Automation Solutions enters a new phase of international growth, the company remains firmly committed to indigenous innovation and technology development. Its collaboration with Barmag not only validates decades of engineering expertise but also demonstrates that Indian companies are increasingly capable of creating world-class automation solutions for the global textile industry.

“We are aligned by a common vision of modernizing the texturizing industry through innovation. This partnership is not just about supplying hardware; it is about jointly developing technologies that will shape the future of textile automation,” concludes Mr. Harshal Patel.

With its strong culture of research and development, patented technologies and customer-focused engineering, Hitech Automation Solutions is emerging as an important contributor to the next generation of intelligent textile manufacturing.
