NIFT admission of students up 28% in 2012-13

9The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) admitted 3,187 students to its UG/PG courses during 2012-13. This is a rise of 28 per cent in intake over the number of students admitted last year. The admission counselling process is transparent and allows the applicants to visit any of the NIFT campuses to secure admission. This not only reduces the travel time but also the cost for the applicants who are given multiple opportunities to secure admission in the preferred course in a campus of their choice. The process ensures a higher degree of satisfaction among the applicants.

NIFT, set up by the Ministry of Textiles in 1986, was granted statutory status under the Act of Parliament of India in 2006, empowering it to award degrees and other academic distinctions. The institute is a pioneer in evolving fashion business education in the country through a network of 15 professionally managed centres at Bangalore, Gandhinagar, New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkatta, Chennai, Hyderabad, Shillong, Kangra, Kannur, Bhopal, Bhubaneshwar, Jodhpur, Patna and Raebareli.

NIFT which offers four-year UG programmes and two-year Master Programme in the areas of Design Management & Technology has been adjudged the best fashion institute in India. The response of students for admission in NIFT has been overwhelming in view of the fact that leading national and international companies have been participating in the campus placement to recruit NIFT professionals.

NIFT remains committed to academic excellence in fashion education, adding to the 15,000 alumni, many of whom have emerged as leading entrepreneurs.
