Raymond’s linen yarn, fabric making facility opened in Amravati

Raymond, the leading manufacturer, marketer and retailer of the finest worsted suiting and cotton shirting fabrics and a significant player in branded apparel, recently opened a greenfield linen manufacturing facility in the newly-created Textile Park in Nandgaon Peth, Amravati, under its subsidiary Raymond Luxury Cottons Ltd.

In phase 1 of the industrial development initiative, the facility is expected to produce 1200 tons of world-class linen yarns and 4.8 million meters of linen and blended fabrics per annum. It is expected to generate direct and indirect employment for 800 people.

Reaffirming its commitment for the inclusive growth of the society, Raymond, in yet another initiative, has laid the foundation-stone for establishing an education, sports and residential project benefiting the entire industrial region of Amravati in Maharashtra.

The occasion was graced, among others, by Mr. Devendra Fadnavis, Maharashtra Chief Minister, and Mr. Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister of Road Transport, Highways, Shipping & Water Resources.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Gautam Hari Singhania, Chairman & Managing Director, Raymond Group, said: “This first manufacturing facility here in Amravati is a symbol of pride for us. Truly inspired by the ‘Make in India’ initiative and Maharashtra’s endeavor to develop the Vidarbha region, it has been set up in record time. With seven plants already operational in Maharashtra, two in and around the Vidarbha region, (Yavatmal and Chhindwara), Raymond has always been at the forefront of Maharashtra’s industrial development. This greenfield facility in Amravati, along with a planned school and residential complex, is yet another step in furthering our contribution to Vidarbha’s overall development.”

Additionally, with the strong presence of offices and retail stores, Raymond collectively provides direct and indirect employment to more than 20,000 people across the State.
