Yarn specialist Sangeeth Textiles forays into weaving

The Coimbatore-based Sangeeth Textiles takes immense pride in perceiving its role as the comprehensive architect of every single yarn Sangeeth-Elangothat it produces. The company was set up in 1983 by the late EN Ramasamy. Hailing from an agrarian background, the family was involved in cotton ginning and trading for the last four decades. The four brothers are the backbone of the organization that has grown over the years to become a manufacturer now of very high quality and value-added cotton yarn for the higher end of the clothing industry.
In the early 1980s, the group founder decided to take the next step in the value chain by starting his own spinning mill near Annur in Coimbatore district with an initial capacity of 6,000 spindles, one of the few complete LMW projects at that time. Sangeeth Textiles has today emerged a strong independent group, thanks to his entrepreneurial skill.
With its three decades of chequered growth, the company has expanded its capacity to 1,40,000 spindles and 2,260 rotors spread over six operational units producing close to 60 tons of high quality cotton yarn matching the international quality requirements every day.
Sangeeth-pic-2Sangeeth is soon to become a multi-faceted conglomerate, providing an array of products and services for textile and apparel industries. In more than its three decades of its career, the group has set several benchmarks for the future generations.
Sangeeth Textiles operates six units in and around Coimbatore producing a wide range of counts but specializing in 40’s count. The units manufacture premium quality yarn in different diameters and in long and continuous length, and their portfolio consists of a range of yarns of exceptional quality and durability. Sangeeth has mastered the art of producing compact yarns and as a next step has diversified into melange yarns.
The melange yarns are produced by blending dyed polyester or viscous with white polyester/cotton. The multiple type fibers of different colors are arranged randomly and piled one upon another into a stack of layers to get different shades. The yarns come in a variety of colors and combination of materials.
With over five decades of profound expertise in raw cotton ginning and trading, the company strength lies in the very first process ofSangeeth-pic-3 choosing the raw material. The company incorporates proven methodologies and scalable processes to produce high quality yarn that can best suit its customer requirements.
Sangeeth uses the best technology available in the market – Trutzschler machines for blowroom and carding, Rieter and LMW combers and draw-frames, ring-frames solely from LMW, and autoconers, mainly from Schlafhorst and a few from Murata.
The spinning group has recently ventured into the weaving segment, and as a first phase of investment it has purchased 30 weaving machines from Toyota.
Sangeeth which used to export nearly 70 per cent of its production has slowly started catering to the domestic market where it is keen to enlarge its presence.
In a casual chat, Mr. R. Elango, Managing Director of Sangeeth told The Textile Magazine: “Domestic consumption in India is growing considerably. As the money power increases, the purchasing power also grows, plus domestic realizations are much better and quicker these days.”
Sangeeth products continue enjoying high demand in international markets like China and Bangladesh, as well as East European and South American countries.
Asked about the future growth prospects for south India in the field of spinning, he said: “Logistics is our biggest headache, power is not stable, and so the South is losing its competitiveness over other players in the North.”
